Press Release - May 2015

Biggest Prime Time and Game Time start soon

Prime Time returns for its' 29th season June 18th with all 6 incoming Hawkeye basketball recruits making their debuts in front of local fans.
First-year players for Iowa include Andrew Fleming from Tennessee; Brandon Hutton from Chicago; Dale Jones from Waterloo, Iowa; Isaiah Moss from Chicago; Ahmad Wagner from Ohio and Christian Williams from Decatur, Illinois.

There will be 16 players from next year's Iowa team and 16 from UNI in the 8 team league, which is approved by the NCAA.

There will be 10 games this summer with 7 dates at the North Liberty Community Center and 3 at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex in Waterloo. Games in North Liberty are on June 18, June 25, July 2, July 12, July 23, July 26, and July 30. Games in Waterloo are on June 21, July 9, and July 16. Games on Thursdays are at 6 and 7:30 with Sunday games at 3 and 4:30.

League Director Randy Larson said “This is an exciting season for us because of so many new young players for UNI and Iowa as well as the very strong veterans returning like Jarod Uthoff, Adam Woodbury, Mike Gesell, Peter Jok and Anthony Clemmons for Iowa and Matt Bohannon, Wyatt Lohaus, Bennett Koch, Paul Jesperson and Wes Washpun for UNI. Having so many strong players is why Fran McCaffrey and Ben Jacobson asked me to expand the league schedule to 8 teams and 10 games this year.  We also hope some ex-players like Matt Gatens and Gabe Olaseni might play but don't know yet.”

Game Time will open its' 15th season on June 17 with all 7 game nights being on Wednesdays at 6 and 7:30 at the North Liberty Community Center.  Playing this summer after their record-setting campaign last season, including advancing to the Sweet 16 and being undefeated at home, will be veterans Kali Peschel, Whitney Jennings, Claire Till, Nicole Smith, Alexa Kastanek, Haley Schneden, Chase Coley and Carly Mohns. Also playing will be graduated senior and All-Big Ten pick Bethany Doolittle who will play before heading to France to play professionally in August.

Making their first appearances for Hawkeye fans will be all members of this year's highly-rated recruiting class including Tania Davis from Michigan, Megan Gustafson from Wisconsin, Tagyn Larson from S Dakota and Hannah Stewart from S Dakota.

Larson explained “With 6 teams in Game Time and 8 in Prime Time, more players are needed than in recent years. Anyone with college-level ability or experience should apply and should come to the tryouts. Tryouts will be on June 13 at the North Dodge Athletic Club in Iowa City, with women at 10 am and men at 11:30. Space is limited so do not come if you've played in the league before."

With the increase in teams sponsors are also needed. Sponsors pay only $1000 and get numerous advertising opportunities, including online, in box scores in media, names on jerseys in front of thousands of fans at the games and in the programs. For more information on how to get involved as a player, fan or sponsor call Randy Larson at 319 631-2100 or go to the websites primetimeleague.com or gametimeleague.com.
